Bupropion®
Once a day oral medication
Naltrexone/bupropion (Contrave) combines an opioid receptor antagonist (naltrexone) with a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (bupropion) in an extended-release tablet. It is labeled as an adjunct to increased physical activity and a reduced-calorie diet for chronic weight management in adults who have a body mass index (BMI) of at least 30 kg per m2 or who have a BMI of at least 27 kg per m2 with one or more weight-related comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, or hypertension.

Common side effects of Bupropion®
- dry mouth
- hyperventilation
- irregular heartbeats
- anxiety
- shaking
- irritability
- trouble sleeping
- headache
- ringing in ears
Expected Results:
Individuals on bupropion lost between 7 to 10% of their body weight, depending on the dosage.
Do not take Bupropion® if you:
- have a history of seizures
- abruptly discontinued taking alcohol, benzodiazepines, barbiturates or anti-epileptic drugs
- are taking linezolid or methylene blue
- have a current or prior diagnosis of anorexia or bulimia
- are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOIs)
- are allergic to bupropion or any of its ingredients
